Go Goonies!
Oregon's North Coast has hosted plenty of great '80s and '90s films, but only one reached cult status: The Goonies. Filmed in Astoria and Cannon Beach, the story is set right here β not some made-up town. Fans travel worldwide to walk the real locations: the old jail (now the Oregon Film Museum), the bowling alley, and Ecola State Park.
One note: some sites, like the Goonies house, are private property, so plan ahead and be respectful of the residents who share their town. Explore the scenes, soak up the nostalgia, and soon Astoria will hold a special place in your heart, too.
-

BEER!
Grab a cold one: Astoria is home to several homegrown breweries, plus scenic outposts of two beloved Oregon brands. Every brewpub in town serves up great grub, and most are family-friendly (some are dog-friendly, too!) and most are just an easy walk from the pier.
Head on downtown and try a brew at Fort George, Sisu, Buoy, Obelisk and more!
